Adopt a Family Fund

About twelve years ago we were searching for ways to serve others since God through the years had blessed us tremendously.  Over the years we had many trials and through it all God never left our side and we knew that there were others in this world that were also suffering in so many other ways.  Our first mission goal was focused on serving in Africa and we began the processof seeking a way to help.  We went to all the Christian's we knew and asked for clothing and cash donations to send to Africa to help those who were going through so much pain & suffering, we were able to gather (3) large boxes of supplies and a small amount of money to send to Africa.  It took (5) months for them to receive it but they did which was a blessing.  Months later we received pictures of the people wearing the clothes & shoes we had sent.  No money on earth could ever replace the joy we felt to see what a small effort could do.  Their smiles just filled our hearts with so much joy.  We later received a letter stating the church there needed $200 to build a bathroom outside.  We were able to collect $500 dollars, which we sent and they were able to build their bathroom.  At that point we search for a more efficient way to reach out to the needy, one that was faster and with better communication.  We settled on Spanish speaking countries because of their close association with the United States and the fact that we speak the language. 

We notice that the missions were good and thruogh it we were able to give people medicine, food, toys & clothes.  But we felt that we still needed something solid since many of the families we helped were widows, orphans, single moms and large families who were unable to provide for their loved one.  We then decided to start a program where people from the United States could help these families without having to go on the mission trips.  We named this program ADOPT A FAMILY FUND.  In 2003 when we went on our yearly mission trip, on faith we decided to adopt (24) families into the program in which every Monday family members would go to the church building to receive their weekly bag of groceries.  When they went they would first be taught the Word of God then they would be given their weekly bags of groceries.

We notice that we needed a lot of money to feed these families on a weekly basis so we continued to do the yard sales and anything that would help us raise the money needed monthly to feed these families we had promised to feed.  We got great result from the yard sales and people knowing where the money was going started donating items to the point where we had no space to store them.  On August 2003 we decided we would open a store and name it “THE YARD SALE STORE” because in it you would find anything & everything you could find at a yard sale only difference was the prices could not be negotiated & it would be a daily event.

Now we have a store that works hand in hand with the Adopt A Family Fund and 100% of the profit that is made thru the store goes to help the widows, orphans, single moms & families which have lots of children and can’t afford to feed them.  Also, every year about 17 of us pay our way and we go and with the profit or money we have raised thru the year we build rooftops, water systems, do clinics and give the people multivitamins & parasite medicine.  We pray you will keep this ministry in your prayers so that others may continue to be blessed by it.

What We Do

We are an IRS approved 501 c3 Charity based in Randolph, Massachsusetts which has a focus of assisting the needy with the essentials of life through our own personal money and money from those in the area that love to help.  We have been helping since 1999 and with God's help we will continue to do so for years to come.

Our ministry is part of the Churches of Christ which we are members of and we rely heavily upon the Church of Christ's in the Boston area for support.

Our main service programs are:

• The Adopt a Family Program: US Families support families in other countries with a monthly donation that cover basic food needs, cooking materials, some educational materials, supplies and a medical clinic in La Ceiba, Honduras.
• Medical Missions: We make trips to Honduras and other countries to provide living supplies, housing, repairs, medcial checkups, dentistry and more to those who cannot normally afford them.
• AFF Food Pantry: Daily distribution of food to those who need them.
